Buffalo Haikus - UB Commons

| | Share

While in Buffalo in August 2001, visiting with a friend, we went for a walk across the University at Buffalo, Amherst campus. We were in a creative mood, so we found a table and started writing some haikus. Later we went for dessert at Nina's Custard Stand and wrote a few more.

Driving the 90,
Road so straight I fell asleep.
Catching bugs, split them!

Dead man in the pool,
Decomposed and sinking fast.
Wonder what's for lunch?

Just hacked my nails off,
Would kill for a pedicure,
Tickling my toes.

Sweetest skin of all,
Devoured by mosquitoes,
Pass the calamine.

Taste my toe jam
Savor every last morsel
Fungicide yummy

Bricks of concrete fall
Legoland arises not
Student reads want ad

Use your turn signal
Get the f*ck out of my way
Driving in MA

Ate an ice cream cone
Sweeter than mint bone marrow
Crunchy skeleton

Water fountains sing
Intervals of minor thirds
Twilight fell quickly

Brontosaurus soup
Breakfast lunch or suppertime
Trollobite crackers

Swam across the bay
Shark bitten, stumpy thighs sway
May not last the day

The wizard of Oz
Delightful fields of poppy
There's no place like home

Tornado alley
Moved into my double wide
Cow up in the tree

Skank 'ho's boot lickers
Fishnet scuzball big hair chicks
Uh oh, she's my date

Fiberglass cushions
Soft and fluffy on my ass
Warm and toasty buns

Mushy red spiders
Freed of earthly bond and toil
Stairway to heaven

Quarters sprawled about
My pocket muffled in step
I hope you don't change

Formaldehyde dreams
Cerebral cortex, stem cells,
Fetal pigs in jars.

Psychotic haikus
Better warn the FBI
Phosphate burns bright

Baked a birthday cake
The candles burned so brightly
Sweet sixteen sour

Sweet sixteen so bites
Coronary bypass graft
Fifty years away
